Short Bio:
Dimitrios Gunopulos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Athens. He has a Diploma in Computer Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Patras, MA and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Computer Science, University of Princeton. He has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institut for Informatik, a Visiting Researcher at the University of Helsinki, an Associate Researcher at the Almaden Research Center IBM, and a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of California-Riverside.
His research is in the areas of Data Mining, Knowledge Discovery in Databases, Databases, Sensor Networks, Peer-to-Peer Systems, Algorithms and Computational Geometry. He has co-authored one book and over one hundred publications in journals and conference proceedings that have been widely cited. He has supervised 8 PhD and 18 MS theses. He has served as General co-Chair at the conference IEEE ICDM 2010, as Program co-Chair at PKDD 2011, IEEE ICDM 2008, ACM SIGKDD 2006, SSDBM 2003, and DMKD 2000, and has served as an Associate Editor for KAIS, IEEE TKDE, IEEE TPDS, and ACM TKDD.
