Short Bio:
Ioannis S. Vlachos received his BSc from the Department of Informatics, University of Piraeus, his MSc in Bioinformatics from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Athens, and his PhD from the Medical School of Athens, University of Athens, Greece. He has worked since 2005 as a researcher in 7 research projects co-funded by the EU and from 2007-2012 as a Lecturer at the Laboratory for Experimental Surgery and Surgical Research, Medical School of Athens. In 2011 he became part of DIANA-lab, BSRC "Al. Fleming" / Department of Computer & Communication Engineering, University of Thessaly. Since 2013 he became also a member of the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory, NCSR "Demokritos". His research focus is non-coding RNA function, analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data and machine learning. Ioannis Vlachos has more than 50 publications in international peer reviewed journals, and more than 80 congress announcements. His publications have been cited more than 500 times. Many of his publications have been selected as featured articles in journals such as Nucleic Acids Research and IEEE Communications. He is a reviewer for multiple journals, including Nucleic Acids Research, Bioinformatics, BMC Bioinformatics and Critical Care in Medicine. He has received more than 12 best research project awards, prizes and scholarships.
