Short Bio:
Stavros Perantonis is a Research Director at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications, NCSR “Demokritos” and Head of the Computational Intelligence Laboratory. He holds a B.Sc. in Physics from the Department of Physics, University of Athens, an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science, University of Liverpool and a D.Phil. in Computational Physics from the Department of Physics, University of Oxford. His present research interests cover the areas of computational intelligence, pattern recognition and intelligent processing, analysis and recognition of multimedia information. He is the author or coauthor of more than 50 publications in peer reviewed Journals or book chapters and 120 publications in conference proceedings, with more than 900 citations to his published work. He is a member of the Board of the Hellenic Society for Artificial Intelligence and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications. He is a member of the editorial board of the Signal Processing Journal. Finally, he has coordinated or participated in numerous national and European research and development projects.
