Short Bio:
Ms. Irene Kostopoulou completed her undergraduate studies at the department of Computer Science of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, in May 2007. Her thesis and practical exercise were performed at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of NCSR Democritos, under the supervision of Mr. Karkaletsis.
During her studies she received awards from the National Scholarship Foundation (I.K.Y.) for outstanding performance. In February 2008, she was awarded a scholarship for Master and PhD studies from the State Scholarship Foundation after written examination (first rank).
In June 2011 she obtained the Master degree in Bioinformatics "Information Technologies in Medicine and Biology" at the Department of Informatics, University of Athens (UoA), with honors. She is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at the department of Informatics and Telecommunications of University of Athens under the supervision of Prof. D. Maroulis.
Her research interests are in the areas of bioinformatics and image processing as well as broader issues of artificial intelligence and language technology such as understanding and natural language processing by computer.
She speaks Greek (native), English (fluently), German (good) and French (little).
